Trainee Driving Instructors
in Droitwich Spa
Everything a PDI (trainee driving instructor) in Droitwich Spa needs to know — your pink badge rules, how to earn £15,000–£25,000 while training, Part 3 preparation, and how Reliant supports you through to qualification.
Your PDI Pink Badge: The Rules
As a trainee driving instructor in Droitwich Spa, you must comply with DVSA's PDI licence conditions at all times. Here is what you need to know.
Pink Badge Duration
Your PDI licence is valid for 6 months. You can apply for one extension of a further 6 months if you have not yet passed Part 3, giving a maximum of 12 months total.
Supervision Requirement
As a PDI, you must be supervised by a qualified ADI for at least one in every three lessons you give. Your supervising ADI must be present in the vehicle.
Display Your Badge
You must display your pink PDI badge in the front windscreen of your vehicle whenever you are giving driving instruction. Failure to display it is a criminal offence.
Part 3 Deadline
You must pass your Part 3 before your PDI licence expires. If you do not, you must stop giving instruction and cannot apply for another PDI licence for 2 years.
Making the Most of Your PDI Period in Droitwich Spa
Your pink badge period is one of the most valuable phases of your ADI journey. Here is how to use it to maximum advantage.
Earn £15,000–£25,000 While Training
Your pink badge allows you to charge for lessons in Droitwich Spa while you complete your Part 3 preparation. Most PDIs earn enough to offset their training costs significantly.
Build Real Teaching Experience
Teaching real learners in Droitwich Spa is the best possible preparation for your Part 3 instructional ability test. Nothing replaces live lesson experience.
Develop Your Teaching Style
The PDI period is your opportunity to develop a natural, effective teaching style before your Part 3 assessment. Use it to experiment and refine your approach.
Build a Local Reputation
Learners you teach as a PDI in Droitwich Spa can become your first loyal students when you qualify. Word-of-mouth referrals start here.
Part 3 Preparation: A Step-by-Step Guide
Part 3 is the hardest of the three ADI qualifying exams. Here is how to approach your preparation systematically while teaching in Droitwich Spa.
Understand the Preset Tests
Part 3 uses two preset scenarios: a beginner pupil and a partly trained pupil. Study the DVSA's guidance on what each scenario involves and what the examiner is looking for.
Record and Review Your Lessons
With your pupil's consent, record your lessons in Droitwich Spa and review them critically. Identify patterns in your teaching — what works, what needs improvement.
Work with a Part 3 Trainer
Book regular sessions with an experienced Part 3 trainer who can observe your teaching, give structured feedback, and run mock Part 3 assessments.
Focus on Client-Centred Learning
The DVSA's current marking criteria heavily rewards client-centred coaching — asking questions, involving the pupil in goal-setting, and adapting to their needs.
Book Your Test When Ready
Do not rush to book your Part 3. Most failures come from booking too early. Your trainer will tell you when you are consistently achieving Grade A or B in mock assessments.
