Why ADIs in Garforth Leave Franchises
Territory restrictions limiting growth
Franchise territories in Garforth are typically fixed geographic areas. If you want to teach in a neighbouring area — perhaps because you live on the boundary, or because demand is stronger there — you may be prevented from doing so. Reliant places no territory restrictions on where you teach within your chosen working area.
Minimum lesson commitments
Franchise agreements often include minimum lesson commitments that make it difficult to reduce your hours temporarily. If you want to take a holiday, reduce your workload during a quieter period, or scale back for personal reasons, a franchise can make this unnecessarily complicated. With Reliant, you update your availability and the matching engine adjusts accordingly.
Branding and car requirements
Many franchises in Garforth require you to display their branding on your vehicle, use a franchise-approved car, or meet specific vehicle standards. This can limit your choice of car. With Reliant, you use your own vehicle with no branding requirements.
Lack of control over your rate
Some franchises in Garforth set or influence the lesson rate you charge, limiting your ability to position yourself in the local market. With Reliant, you set your own rate and decide how to price your lessons.

Franchise Alternative in Garforth — FAQs
What is the best driving instructor franchise alternative in Garforth?
Reliant Driver Training is designed specifically as an alternative to the traditional driving school franchise model in Garforth. The key differences are: no territory restrictions, no minimum lesson commitments, no branding requirements, and no lock-in period. You receive a guaranteed stream of matched student enquiries in Garforth through our platform, you set your own lesson rate, and you run your own business. We handle all the marketing, matching, and admin — you focus on teaching. Many ADIs in Garforth who have left major franchises tell us the switch to Reliant was the best professional decision they made.
How does Reliant compare to BSM, AA Driving School, and RED in Garforth?
The major driving school franchises — BSM, AA Driving School, RED, and others — operate on a franchise model that typically involves territory restrictions, minimum lesson commitments, and varying levels of student supply. Reliant operates differently: there are no territory restrictions, no minimum commitments, and our student matching is based on your actual working area and availability rather than a fixed geographic territory. We do not require you to display our branding or use a specific vehicle. You are self-employed and in control of your own business in Garforth — we provide the student pipeline and the platform.
Can I leave my current franchise and join Reliant in Garforth?
Yes. Many of our ADIs in Garforth and across the UK joined Reliant after leaving a franchise. Before making the switch, we recommend reviewing your current franchise agreement carefully — particularly any notice period, exit clauses, or non-compete restrictions. Most franchise agreements include a notice period of 4–12 weeks. Once you have served your notice and are free to work independently, you can apply to join Reliant and we will get your profile set up and begin matching you with students in Garforth. Our onboarding team can advise on the transition process if you have questions.
Do I need to display Reliant branding on my car in Garforth?
No. Reliant does not require you to display any branding on your vehicle in Garforth or anywhere else. You use your own car, with your own L plates, and present yourself as a self-employed driving instructor. We provide the student pipeline and the platform — we do not require you to advertise on our behalf. This is one of the key differences between Reliant and the major driving school franchises, which typically require instructors to display franchise branding and may specify the type or age of vehicle you use.
What happens if I want to take a break from teaching in Garforth?
Simply update your availability in your Reliant profile and the matching engine will pause new student matches until you are ready to resume. There are no restrictions and no minimum notice period for taking time off. When you are ready to start teaching again in Garforth, update your availability and matches will resume. This flexibility is one of the most valued aspects of the Reliant model for instructors who have previously been constrained by franchise agreements with minimum lesson commitments or time-off restrictions.
